Hawaiian Summer
From my first encounter with Jaws some 20 years ago, my life since that day has forever been changed. It’s kind of strange how one wave can shape your life and become your sole obsession. I find myself sometimes forgetting how amazing the wave really is and it’s not until I get another dose that all the memory’s and feeling coming rushing back. Once you’ve been bite you become part of that wave forever, or at least until you get married!
Every year I try and prepare myself for the winter season ahead. »

Red Bull Psicobloc
Free Climbing in Prado-Tolima Columbia
From the very moment the Big Bang gave place to everything we see and everything we touch, to all of this which, finally, is what we are and feel; the beauty itself, the natural resources and their geographical position in this world have been just a matter of luck. The exact location of a mine is just as random as the size and shape of a mountain or the position of the poles. The same occurred with everything else, the landscapes, the color of the water, the life that blossomed everywhere. To think that the fact of being a fisherman or a rock-climber has also been written since that first explosion is not as mad as it seems. »

Red Bull Illume Image Quest Enlightens World of Action and Adventure Sports Photography
The world’s best action and adventure sports photographers were recently revealed at a spectacular unveiling in Trinity College Dublin, Ireland on August 31. MONUMENTAL PERFORMER
He leaps tall buildings with a single jump, backflips bridges and crosses canals 95m above the water.
Robbie Maddison is making something of a habit out of landmarks. Not content with taking on a massive 30m jump onto Las Vegas’s version of the Arc de Triomphe in 2008, followed by a 12m drop off the same building, the Australian daredevil last year staged a dead-of-night raid on London’s iconic Tower Bridge, vaulting the open bridge with a stunning backflip. »

Tavarua
I have been to Fiji many times over the past twenty-five years, with most of my trips having been to the tiny private island of Namotu, which is a windsurf and kitesurf paradise located about a twenty-minute boat ride off the coast of Nadi. At only a couple hundred meters across and about half that wide, Namotu is an amazing little resort. With three good waves, Namotu Lefts, Swimming Pools (a right), and Wilks (a right) there is almost always something to ride. I have been friends with the owner, Scotty O’Connor, for most of my life, and I have watched Namotu evolve from a rustic little surf camp into a high-end private resort. Until this summer, I had never stayed on the larger and more famous island only about a mile to the East of Namotu, the island of Tavarua. »

FOR WOMEN ONLY
High performance Red Bull Surfing Girls Only Camp gathers world’s top female surfers
Like it or not, surfing is a man’s world. For a woman, carving out a spot in the lineup is hardly an easy feat. The criticism is that girls are less extreme, less powerful, less innovative. Therefore, the highest praise a girl’s apt to get is that they surf like a boy. Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS), Sofía Mulanovich (PER), Maya Gabeira (BRA) and Nadja de Col (PER) are out to prove the world otherwise. Matthias Dandois: Riding in the USA
He spent over a month in the US, from Austin, Texas to Joplin, Missouri. On his BMX, he rode where it’s always hot, where “the street” is a kind of religion. Matthias Dandois is the world’s top flatland rider. But by immersing himself with the streeters on their own turf, the Frenchman mastered some new tricks that might well put the competition on the mat. Again! »

Red Bull Project X: Showtime in Silverton - SHAUNE WHITE
Schauen Sie die atemberaubenden Bilder an.****** There are very few places yet to be discovered, but still the dream most people hold dear is to explore, search and live. When it comes to snowboarders, it is what powers their lives – that need to ride, create and push the limits is often indescribable, but it is ever-present. It is the need to feel the rush – be it from landing a new trick, finding an untouched line, or pushing boundaries no one else has breached – just one more time. The Atherton Three
By John Gibson
The email came through early in the morning. It read: ‘Red Bull Rampage: October 2-5, 2008’. The rest of the message said that British downhill racer Gee Atherton was up for a New World Disorder (NWD) segment for the ninth movie and Red Bull was shipping Gee along with his younger sister Rachel and older brother Dan off to Utah during the second week of April. It was on and we were all heading back to the desert. Straight to the new Rampage site and the motherland of freeride mountain biking. »

Orlando Duque on Malpelo Island, November 8th 2009
Photographer Camilo Rozo - Ray Demsik-1,7,8,9
Multiple World Diving Champion Orlando Duque is standing on a group of rocks known as “The three musketeers”: Three peaks that stand about 50 meters high and overlook the middle of the Pacific as a part of the Island of Malpelo. On this small piece of land, 30 hours away from the Colombian coast by boat, five uniformed Army officers live among a million crabs, more than 10.000 birds, and reptiles similar to those of prehistoric times. Deep in its waters, hundreds of hammerhead sharks complete a picture of a place like no other. »

Red Bull Glorious Days
Staring at the horizon on a remote and isolated salt-flat bordering the Gulf of Carpentaria in outback Australia is a solitary human figure. Surrounded by the endless expanse of Australia’s harshest landscape, a land reserved for snakes, saltwater crocodiles and sea eagles, Jon Durand watches the sunrise, waiting to fulfill his lifelong dream to surf the ‘Morning Glory’, the tsunami of the sky. He carries no surfboard, but rather a sleek competition hang glider rests beside him, for the Morning Glory is no wave of the ocean but rather a 1000km long roll cloud, surging across the ground at more than 60km/h and has the ability to thrust those who dare to ride her beyond 4000ft into the atmosphere, or to plunge them out of control to the ground. »

JAPAN SNOW
Story by Joe Prebich

Robby Naish goes Indonesian
By Erik Aeder
Late August to September is the time grab your passport and buy a ticket to Indonesia for some great kitesurfing and Stand Up Paddling (SUP) tripping on the island of Sumbawa. Robby Naish did just that along with some of his team riders and myself to shoot photos of their adventures. The plan was to bring all the equipment they could possibly need and see if they could ride every piece of it. »

Mount St. Elias: Survival on Skies
Axel Naglich, Red Bull Vertical Rush
Axel Naglich’s breath, condensing on the cold night air, catches in his headlamp beam as he confides about his fears, his team and the journey ahead. It’s mid-May on the Tyndall Glacier and nighttime temperatures dip as low as -40 degrees. Northern lights sweep the Alaskan sky, creating a halo around Mount St. Elias’ silhouetted summit. “You crash, you’re dead,” the Austrian says matter-of-factly about skiing the icy 65-degree slopes that descend from Elias’ peak. Along with fellow Austrian Peter Ressmann and American Jon Johnston, Naglich is here to do what some have called impossible — become the first to descend the mountain’s entire 18,008-foot (5,488-meter) vertical on skis. At the End of the World
By Stefan Glowacz and Tom Dauer
May 15th 2008 - Actually, we should have been content, happy even. For days we had been climbing on this wall that rose 700 meters from the ice. For days our world had been tilted vertical. For days we had laboured, suffered, feared and hoped. Until we had reached the highest point of the “Bastions”, a granite tower on the east coast of Baffin Island. »

Happiness and Headaches on Planet Kenya
Urge Kenya, downhill race on Mount Kenya, 2 – 9 February 2009
A mountain almost 5000 meters high, ten world-class downhill bikers, and a benefit race – this is Urge Kenya. For the photographer Christophe Margot the rough going and high altitude on Mount Kenya were definitely worth it. High on adrenalin, he experienced the three hardest and most fascinating days of his life on the job – a trip to another planet and back. »

Red Bull Surfing Mentawais 2009
Magazin article, by Sandy Stevenson
Words like “epic”, “all-time”, and “classic” are heard all too often around the island chain that is the Mentawais... these are the words that come way too easily on the tongue in this swell-pounded region. You’ll be standing on the deck of a surf-charter boat sipping a cold one and the words might drift across the water to you...”awesome”, “best session ever”, “off-the-scale”. Maybe this renders them meaningless for when the real deal comes along. So you might forgive me for pinching myself as I stand on the back of the Indies Trader IV chatting to Mick Fanning after a barrel-fest session at Rags Right when he says “That’s got to be one of the top 5 barrel sessions I’ve ever had”.
The Red Bull Mentawais trip is ON... we’ve scored on Day 1. »

Biking with Buddha
By René Wildhaber
I am sitting in the garden of the Jigmet Guest House in Leh, Northern India, right in the heart of the Himalayan Mountains. The waiter brought me a large pot of chai, which is black tea with a characteristic spice mixture, milk and lots of sugar. I enjoy the flowers in the garden, because I have not seen many flowers over the past few weeks. Instead, I have enjoyed the most incredible experiences. They are spread out on the table in front of me in the form of entries in my diary. While I am busy summarizing them, the journey passes through my mind. »
